Post: Experienced Legal Secretary – Commercial Property
Based at: Chester Office
Responsible to: Commercial Property Fee Earners
Salary: £27,000 – £32,000, depending on experience

We’re currently on the hunt for an experienced Commercial Property Legal Secretary, in our Team, based in our Chester office. The applicant will need to have at least 6 months previous legal experience in a Commercial Property Legal Secretary role.

The Role
Duties to include but not limited to:
- Opening files and day to day maintenance in accordance with the department’s Risk Management procedures;
- To assist the Fee Earner under supervision with the following:
- File creation; statement drafting and liaison with clients in respect of the same;
- Generation of suitable client care correspondence;
- Attendance on clients for routine instructions and signing;
- Carrying out searches and dealing with enquires in relation to such searched using Searchflow or directly with the various authorities;
- Using H M Land Registry portal for :
- Downloading official copies, documents and plans and saving to matter number, and carrying out priority; and
- Bankruptcy searches and other pre completion and online applications;
- Collating title bundles, scanning deeds and saving them to the DMS;
- Dealing with post completion registration and stamp duty land tax formalities;
- Under supervision, preparing invoices, completion statements and statements of account and complete accounts documentation as and when directed by the Fee Earner;
- Carrying out copy typing of documents, including the completion of forms originating from the firm’s own precedent bank and adopting those from Practical Law, Laserforms and Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents to fit the firm style;
- Preparing correspondence and documents through audio typing, ensuring that such correspondence and documents are checked for errors before passing to Fee Earner;
- Interacting with clients and dealing with general enquiries by email or telephone.

- Previous experience in a Commercial Property Legal Secretary role of at least 6 months is essential

- IT literate with experience of using Microsoft Office such as Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Good written, numeracy and oral communication skills
