Alison Brennan, a partner in DTM’s corporate team, hosted a number of complimentary seminars ahead of the General Data Protection Regulation coming into force, including in partnership with Knowsley Chamber of Commerce, to help and support local Merseyside business owners.
Alison said: “The advent of GDPR and the publicity surrounding its anticipated impact on the way businesses operate naturally caused concern. Hopefully we alleviated this a little by assisting businesses to understand their obligations and how best to achieve compliance without unnecessarily damaging trade.
“Whilst the 25 May deadline has now passed, it is important that businesses don’t lose momentum with striving to achieve and maintain compliance – data security remains a hot topic as demonstrated by the Dixons Carphone revelations.”
There are further legislative changes that will affect the GDPR regulation once the Data Protection Bill completes its passage through Parliament and replaces the Data Protection Act 1998.
DTM will be hosting another series of workshops and seminars later this year to allow businesses to reflect on their GDPR action plans and make further plans.
