Guy Thomas is a Partner at DTM Legal, in the Dispute Resolution and Construction department. He brings over 25 years of construction and legal experience to the clients he advises and is a Chartered Civil Engineer.
Guy graduated with a degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from Portsmouth University and completed his Post Graduate Diploma in Law (PGDL) and Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the University of Law. He also attended the University of Hong Kong undertaking legal and arbitration courses and qualifications.
Guy is a dual qualified Chartered Civil Engineer and Solicitor specialising in contentious and non-contentious construction and engineering law having worked within the construction industry on major civil engineering projects in the United Kingdom and Hong Kong.
He regularly acts for funders, developers, consultants, contractors, purchasers and tenants in relation to drafting and advising on non-contentious construction documentation. Guy’s non-contentious experience includes negotiating and drafting various construction documents, standard form and negotiated construction contracts, framework agreements, professional appointments, novation agreements, collateral warranties and bonds.
Guy is familiar with all methods of dispute resolution including mediation, adjudication and litigation in the Technology and Construction Court and regularly acts for a range of clients. Whilst Guy is no longer ‘Blowing stuff up’ as a Senior Engineer working on hard rock drills and blast tunnels, he does maintain a mantra of doing things right the first time. Guy serves his clients with diligence and pragmatism.
Outside of work, Guy spends his time with his wife and two sons, cycling, walking, running, swimming, and taking part in all manner of events and triathlons – usually with his wife. He spends the rest of his spare time mowing the lawn and walking the family’s three dogs.
