Richard Thomas, Head of Business Recovery has completed a 48-hour challenge for Nightingale Hospice. Starting on the 13th of September 2023, Richard was tasked to ride his motorcycle from Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham across 10 countries ending in Switzerland.
Why take on this challenge?
Richard became a trustee of the hospice just over 18 months ago and since then he has seen first-hand the great work that they carry out. The dedicated staff at the hospice provide care and support for those affected by life-limiting illness and are of great benefit to the local community. Richard has also seen how much money needs to be raised each year to allow the hospice to continue its hard work for those in need of its services.
Nightingale House Hospice helps patients free of charge and serves a wide catchment area including Wrexham, Flintshire, East Denbighshire to Barmouth and the border towns including Oswestry and Whitchurch. Nightingale House Hospice has provided a safe and peaceful environment for patients and their loved ones to spend quality time together.
Richard’s Challenge
Richard’s goal was to raise £1,000 for Nightingale House Hospice by traveling from Wales, through England to the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Austria and into Liechtenstein before finally arriving in Switzerland. He completed his challenge within his targeted 48 hours and enjoyed some well earnt rest before starting his journey home. He managed to well exceed his fundraising target, reaching £1,700 for charity!
The care provided by Nightingale House Hospice is invaluable, and without support they wont be able to provide such high standards of palliative care. Congratulations to Richard for completing his challenge, the DTM Legal Team had great fun tracking your progress.
